The oldest building which was renovated was handed over to the students - 2021
තර්ස්ටන් විද්‍යාලයට වසර 71 වන සංවත්සරයට සමගාමීව විද්‍යාලයේ වර්ථමාන විදුහල්පති ප්‍රමුදිත වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතාගේ සංකල්පයකට අනුව ශ්‍රී ලංකා නාවික හමුදාවේ ඉංජිනේරු අංශයේ නිලධාරීන්ගේ ශ්‍රම දායකත්වය යටතේ ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණය කරන ලද විද්‍යාලයේ පෞඩත්වය පිළිබිබු කෙරෙන ඉතා පැරණිතම ගොඩනැගිලි පද්ධතිය 2021 ජනවාරි මස 11 වන දින විද්‍යාලයේ කීර්තිමත් ආදී ශිෂ්‍යයෙකු වන ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ වර්ථමාන අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතාගේ සුරතින් සිසු අයිතියට පත් කරන ලදී.
ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ කටයුතු සදහා අවශ්‍ය උපකරණ හා ද්‍රව්‍ය මිල දී ගැනීම සඳහා තර්ස්ටන් විද්‍යාලයේ පාසල් සංවර්ධන සමිතිය රුපියල් මිලියන 13ක මුදලක් වැයකර ඇත. මහා සංඝරත්නයේ සෙත් පිරිත් සජ්ජායනා මැද සමරු ඵලකය නිරාවරණය කොට විවෘත කළ මෙම ගොඩනැඟිල්ලේ අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා ද සිප් සතර හදාරා ඇති බව පවසන්නේ මහත් ආඩම්බරයෙනි.
71 වසරක තර්ස්ටන් විද්‍යාලීය ඉතිහාසය තුළ වෘත්තීමය වශයෙන් වසර 50ක දේශපාලන දිවියක් සම්පූර්ණ කළ කීර්තිමත් ආදි ශිෂ්‍යයකු වෙනුවෙන් පිරිනැමෙන තර්ස්ටන් ප්‍රජාවේ සමරු තිළිණය මෙහිදී තර්ස්ටන් විදුහල්පති ප්‍රමුදිත වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා සහ ප්‍රධාන ශිෂ්‍යනායක විසින් අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා වෙත ප්‍රදානය කළහ.
අමාත්‍ය මහාචාර්ය ජී.එල් පීරිස්, අමාත්‍ය බන්දුල ගුණවර්ධන සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ චීන තානාපති කි ෂෙන්හොං මහත්වරු වෙත සමරු තිළිණ ප්‍රදානය අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා කරන ලදී.
චීන ආරක්ෂක විද්‍යාලයීය ශ්‍රී ලංකා ආදි විද්‍යාර්ථ සංගමය හා චීන සමූහාණ්ඩුවේ සම්බන්ධීකරණයෙන් Huawei Idea hub විසින් පිරිනැමූ රුපියල් මිලියන 10ක් වටිනා ස්මාර්ට් පංති කාමර තාක්ෂණික උපකරණ කට්ටල 6ක් විද්‍යාලයට භාර දීම ද මීට සමගාමීව සිදුවිය. විද්‍යාලයේ කීර්තිමත් ආදි ශිෂ්‍ය විශ්‍රාමික මේජර් ජෙනරාල්, රේගු අධ්‍යක්ෂ ජෙනරාල් ජී.වී. රවිප්‍රිය මහතා ඊට අදාළ ප්‍රදානය අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා වෙත භාර දුන්නේ ය.
මෙම අවස්ථාවට ආරක්ෂක ලේකම් විශ්‍රාමික ජෙනරාල් කමල් ගුණරත්න, රේගු අධ්‍යක්ෂ ජෙනරාල් ජී.වී රවිප්‍රිය, විදුහල්පතිතුමා ඇතුළු තර්ස්ටන් විද්‍යාලයීය ආචාර්ය මණ්ඩලය, පාසල් සංවර්ධන සමිතියේ සමාජිකයෝ, ආදි ශිෂ්‍ය සංගමයේ නියෝජිතයෝ සහ පාසල් දරුවන් පිරිසක් එක්ව සිටියහ.
The restored oldest building of Thurstan college was vested to students by Hon. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on the 11th of January 2021.Principal Pramuditha Wickramasinghe inaugurated the project to coincide with the 71st anniversary of the school with the dedicated contribution of the officers of the Engineering Division of the Sri Lanka Navy.
School Development Societies have spent Rs. 13 million to purchase equipment and materials required for the renovation work on this building where the Prime Minister had also been studying when he was at school.
The Thurstan College Commemorative Prize on behalf of a distinguished alumnus who has completed 50 years of professional political career during the 71 year history of the school was presented to Mahinda Rajapaksa by the Principal of the College.
The Prime Minister also presented tokens of appreciation to the Minister of Education Hon.Prof.G.L.Peiris, Minister of trade Hon.Dr.Bandula Gunawardene and His Excellency Mr.Qi Zenghong the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Sri Lanka for their gracious presence at the event.
6 Smart class room equipment sets worth 10 million rupees were also donated to the school by the China Defense College in coordination with its Sri Lanka Alumni Association and Huawei Idea Hub.Retired Major General,Director General of Sri Lanka customs Mr. Vijitha Ravipriya, a distinguished alumnus of Thurstan College, handed over the grant to the Prime Minister.
Secretary of the Ministry of Defense Rtd. General Kamal Gunarathne, the academic staff of the college,members of the school development society,members of the Old Boys' Union,parents and students were also present at the event.
