ඇසළ පුර පසළොස්වක පෝය බෝසතාණන් වහන්සේ මවු කුස පිළිසිඳ ගැනීම, අභිනිෂ්ක්‍රමණය, ප්‍රථම ධර්ම දේශනාව වූ "ධම්මචක්ක පවත්තන සූත්‍රය" දේශනා කිරීම යන කරුණු නිසා ඇසළ පොහෝ දිනය ලංකාවාසී බෞද්ධයන්ට ඉතා වැදගත් වේ.

රාහුල කුමරුගේ උපත සිදුවීම, තීර්ථකයන්ගේ මානය බිඳීම සඳහා ගන්ධබ්බ රුක් මූලයේදී යමාමහ පෙළහර පෑම, කීර්ති ශ්‍රී රාජසිංහ රජුගේ කාලයේ සියම් රටින් උපාලි තෙරුන් වහන්සේ ඇතුළු පිරිස ගෙන්වා ලංකාවේ උපසම්පදාව යළි ඇති කිරීමත් ඇසළ පෝය දිනක දී සිදු වී ඇත.
