2009 Batch Donation for Chair Project
තර්ස්ටන් විද්‍යාලයීය ප්‍රධාන රංග ශාලාවට නව පුටු ලබා ගැනීම සදහා ආරම්භ කරන ලද ව්‍යාපෘතිය සදහා තර්ස්ටන් විද්‍යාලයීය 2009 කාණ්ඩායම විසින් එකතු කරන ලද රුපියල් 190,000ක මුදල් පරිත්‍යාගය එම කාණ්ඩායමේ සභාපති විනොද් රණවක, උප සභාපති හේෂාන් පෙරේරා හා භාණ්ඩාගරික සුපුන් කලණක යන මහත්වරුන්ගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් 2020 ජුනි මස 14වන ඉරිදා දින විද්‍යාලයීය භූමියේදී ආදී ශිෂ්‍ය සංගමයේ ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ උප සභාපති නොයෙල් ජෝෂප් මහතා වෙත භාරදෙන ලදී. ඒ සදහා දායක වූ සියල්ලට අපගේ ස්තුතිය!
Thurstan College 2009 batch made a Collection of Rs.190,000 for the Thurstan College main hall chair project, which was handed over to Mr. Noel Joseph, Senior Vice President of Thurstan College Old Boys Union on Sunday, 14th June 2020 at the College premises from President Mr. Vinod Ranawaka, Vice President Mr. Heshan Perera and Treasurer Mr. Supun Kalanaka from the 2009 batch. Thanks to all who contributed!

Remembering Thushal!
2010 තර්ස්ටන් විද්‍යාලයීය ආදී ශිෂ්‍ය කණ්ඩායමේ සාමාජික තුසල් තෙබුවන මහතා අභාවප්‍රාප්ත වි ඇති බව පවුලේ සාමාජිකයන් දැනුම් දී තිබේ. මිය යන විට තුසල් තෙබුවන මහතා 29 වන වියේ පසුවිය. තුසල් තෙබුවන මහතාගේ පවුලේ සාමාජිකයින්ට සහ මිතුරන්ට අපගේ බලවත් කණගාටුව සහ ශෝකය ප්‍රකාශ කරන අතර ඔහු නිබ්බානාහි උත්තරීතර සැප සම්පත් අත් කර ගනිත්වා යැයි පාර්ථනා කරමි!
2010 Thurstanites old boy Mr. Thushal Thebuwana has passed away at the age of 29, a family members told. We would like to extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to the families and friends of the Thurstanites OLD Boy Mr. Thushal Thebuwana May He Attain Supreme Bliss of Nibbana!

කොවිඩ්-19 වසංගත තත්ත්වය හේතුවෙන් වසා දමා තිබූ තර්ස්ටන් විද්‍යාලය අධ්‍යාපන අමාත්‍යංශයේ උපදෙස් පරිදි පහත සදහන් අදියර 4 යටතේ යළි විවෘත කෙරේ.
පළමු අදියර - 2020 ජූනි මස 29 වන දින විදුහල්පතිවරුන්, ගුරුවරුන් සහ අනධ්‍යනය කාර්ය මණ්ඩලය සදහා
දෙවන අදියර - 2020 ජුලි මස 06 වන දින 13 ශ්‍රේණිය, 11 ශ්‍රේණිය සහ 05 ශ්‍රේණියේ ශිෂ්‍යන් සදහා
තුන්වන අදියර - 2020 ජුලි මස 20 වන දින 12 ශ්‍රේණිය සහ 10 ශ්‍රේණියේ ශිෂ්‍යන් සදහා
හතරවන අදියර - 2020 ජුලි මස 27 වන දින 03 ශ්‍රේණිය, 04 ශ්‍රේණිය, 06 ශ්‍රේණිය, 07 ශ්‍රේණිය, 08 ශ්‍රේණිය සහ 09 ශ්‍රේණියේ ශිෂ්‍යන් සදහා
සැ.යු: 01 ශ්‍රේණිය සහ 02 ශ්‍රේණියේ ශිෂ්‍යන් සදහා පාසල විවෘත කිරීමක් සිදු නොවේ.
Thurstan College, which was closed due to the Covid-19 epidemic will be reopened on the instructions of the Education Ministry under the following four phases.
Phase One - 29th of June 2020 for Principals, Teachers and Non-Academic staff
Phase Second - 6th of July 2020, for students of grade 13, grade 11 & grade 05
Phase Three - 20th of July 2020 for students of Grade 12 and Grade 10
Fourth Stage - 27th of July 2020 for students of grade 03, grade 04, grade 06, grade 07, grade 08 and grade 09
NB: The school does not open for students of grade 01 and grade 02.

Poson Pahan Poojawa
පොසොන් පුර පසළොස්වක පොහොය දිනය නිමිත්තෙන් තර්ස්ටන් විද්‍යාලයේ විදුහල්පති ප්‍රමුදිත වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා විසින් සංවිධානය කරනු ලැබු "පහන් පූජාව" ආදී ශිෂ්‍ය මහත්වරු සීමිත පිරිසකගේ සහභාගීත්වය ඇතිව 2020 ජුනි මස 05වන සිකුරදා දින විද්‍යාලයීය පරිශ්‍රයේදී පැවැත්වුණි.
The "Pahan Pooja" was organized by Thurstan College Principal Pramuditha Wickramasinghe on the Poson Full Moon Poya day on Friday 5th of June 2020 with the participation of a limited number of OLD Boys'.

Happy Poson Poya Day!
පොසොන් උත්සවය යනු මහින්දාගමනය සැමරීම සඳහා පොසොන් පසළොස්වක පෝය දිනයෙන් ආරම්භව දින කීපයක් පුරා අනුරාධපුර සහ මිහින්තලේ ප්‍රධාන කොට ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ පැවැත්වෙන බෞද්ධාගමික උත්සවයකි. මහින්දාගමනය හෙවත් මිහිඳු හිමියන් ලක්දිවට වැඩම කිරීම මගින් ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ බෞද්ධ දහම ස්ථාපිත වීම පොසොන් උත්සවයේ දී සමරනු ලැබේ.
Poson, also known as Poson Poya, is an annual festival held by Sri Lankan Buddhists celebrating the arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka in the 3rd century BC. The festival is the most important Poya (full moon) holiday of the year and the second most important Buddhist holiday of the year, being surpassed in importance by Vesak. Poson is celebrated throughout the island, with the most important ceremonies of the festival being held in Anuradhapura and Mihintale. The festival is held in early June, coinciding with the June full moon.

Buddhists commemorate the important events that took place in the life of Lord Buddha on this Vesak Full Moon Poya Day. First comes the birth of Siddhartha Gautama in Lumbini in Nepal which took place under the arbor of Sat trees where queen Mahamaya gave birth to him. The second event was Siddharta Gautama's supreme attainment as the Buddha, the Enlightened One. The third event was Lord Buddha's Parinibbana over 2500 years ago at Kusinagar

Thurstan College, one of the premiere government educational institutions in Sri Lanka is now calling for admissions for Advanced level classes.
Prospective students who have excelled at the G.C.E O/L Examination held in December 2019, irrespective of ethnicity and religion may apply to pursue their studies in a well-equipped background for Advance Level Maths, Science, Commerce, Arts & Technical streams in either Sinhala or English medium.
